This book I felt was a lot like other Amish books. I LOVE them so it is always a joy to go through and read another one. It was especially interesting because I have family in Ohio near Berlin and we travel through there when we go to visit. The book was a good love story about how someone went away to help at the military hospital but did not go against his religious beliefs and came back to the Amish community. It's like there are two stories in one and then they come together. The second part was the girl, who was adopted by Amish, so she was born and Englisher. It was a fantastic book about how people from two different communities but not, come together and see how God can use their situations and lives. The girl finds her brother, or rather, he finds her and lives in the Amish community with her family. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes any type of Amish story, or good love story. Definitely one I will be reading again and giving to my mom for Christmas, as she also loves the Amish area and remembers going to Berlin.

Encouragement for Today

Encouragement for Today by the Proverbs 31 team is an awesome book of devotions. I really liked this book because it isn't listed by date. It is a book you can go to whenever you need some encouragement. At the end of each devotion it gives you bible verses to look up that go along with the devotion which helps to enforce the devotion for that day or God time. I love the Proverbs 31 team because they are so open and honest about their daily lives and things they struggle with. It is like a breath of fresh air to read that they go through the same things we do. This is a book I would definitely recommend to friends and purchase for gifts for girlfriends, mom's, sister's etc. A great book for ladies to read.

Lead Me Home

Lead Me Home is the second book of the Winds of Change book series. I received this book and could not put it down. I haven't read a book like this in a long time and want to get the two other books, unfortunately, I have to wait until next summer to get book 3. It is an amazing book about a mother going back and following her dream and how she takes a student under her wing and helps her to reach her goal and follow her dream. This book is one I will be passing onto others to read but will keep in my library of books to read again and again. I can't wait to read the others.

Once Upon a Prince

I ordered this book last night as an e-book and could not put it down. I was fist introduced to the author when she wrote with Sara Evans and love her books. I was so excited to be able to get the first book in the series. It is about a girl who had a life plan and basically, God showed her that He is in control of her life and not her. That he is going to take care of all of the details. This is such a great book and I'm really excited to read the next books in the series. I hate that I have to wait for the next one to come out!

NIV Leadership Bible

I find Bible's difficult to review as it is impossible to read it all in a decent time frame and have a review. In reading through some of it and the leadership tips, advice and encouragement I was very impressed. The weekly studies are amazing and the 15 minute leadership devotions are fantastic as well. It is a great Bible for someone who is in any type of Leadership or going to be in leadership. One week will cover a personal quality such as Courage, Humility, or Vision. Another week may deal with a practical skill like Conflict Management or Systems Thinking. Other topics may relate to interpersonal relationships—Healthy Alliances, Power and Influence, or Servant Leadership. Again, a great tool for anyone in ministry or any leadership in Christian ministry or in public ministry.

Altar Ego

This book is amazing, challenging, and at times frustrating. It is amazing because it is challenging. It challenges you in all areas, but mainly your faith and encourages you to step above the normalcy of our society and even the Christian society. It asks you to step out of your comfort zone and be who God created you to be. It is a book that has taken some time to read because it is so challenging. It isn't overwhelming but you definitely need to take time to read this book so that every section, chapter has time to sink in and so you understand it. It can also be frustrating at times because it helps you see how much God loves you and cares about you, and that can be difficult for some people, but a must read. I highly encourage you to go out and buy this book and read it, pass it on for others to read, and read it again. This book was given to me in exchange for a review through Booksneeze.

Unglued Devotional

This is a fantastic devotional. Lysa is a phenomenal writer and I have read so many books by her and have enjoyed each one immensely. It is very difficult to read this book without the book that corresponds with it. My suggestion is that when you buy the devotional, to get the book. It is a great book to do with a small group or Bible Study with. Lysa has a way of writing that is real, honest, and open. She doesn't hold back with her readers and it is so helpful because it brings back the realization that we are all human. Fantastic book, go buy it....now! Why are you still sitting looking at your computer? Go buy the books!

Who Do You Think You Are? ~ Driscoll

I was excited to get this book. I read it and was encouraged and really enjoyed the book. I heard then about what he is doing with a person in his church and how that person is being treated and this man is not doing what he is teaching in his book. This book was given to me to review by Booksneeze in exchange for an honest review. The book was good, the man who wrote the book, not so much. The book will not be in my house as I do not condone that kind of behavior, let alone want it in my house. If you don't know what it is all about, research it. Again, excellent book but the author has just ruined any book written by him.

Dirty God

I was really excited to see this book being offered because Johnnie Moore is a campus pastor at the university I go to, Liberty University, fantastic school by the way! This book is challenging yet so real! I'm so glad to have got this book, because it seems like anymore, people are trying to just live their lives and go to church on Sunday. A relationship takes more than 1 hour a week. This book helps get back to the basics. It is a great book for both new Christians and people who have been believers for many years, also non believers. This book is a real eye opener, way to go Johnnie!!!

Red Letter Revolution

This book is fantastic. It is written by Shane Claiborne and Tony Campolo. I have read books by both authors and have thoroughly enjoyed them as well as have been incredibly challenged. This book does not disappoint. It is a conversation between the two authors as they discuss many different topics that Christians need to hear about, not things they want to hear about. It is a book that you cannot read in one sitting because it is so intense, in depth and very challenging. There are many people I would encourage to read this book. It is a great book to encourage Christians to live beyond Sunday mornings. To become, red letter believers. They discuss the difference between those who read the red letters in the Bible, and those who live the red letters in the Bible, which is what Jesus calls us to. I will be recommending this book for sure!

Grace by Max Lucado

Another book about Grace. I was so excited to get this but also a little worried that it would be another ho hum book about Grace. I started reading the book and had to force myself to put it down and get some sleep. Max Lucado did an awesome job writing this book. He is real about the subject of grace and forces you to look outside of yourself to see if you are living in and accepting God's grace. I finished this book and was happy to see a reading guide at the end, it makes me want to pick the book back up again and read through it using the guide, which I may just do. Grace is not a book you want to pass up. It is such a well written, real, and honest look at God's grace.

Empty Promises

I was so excited to hear that Pete Wilson wrote another book! After reading Plan B, I was so excited to read his new one, Empty Promises. I got the book and dove into it right away. I found this one a lot harder to read than Plan B. I stopped reading after a few chapters and put it down for months, (we moved during this time) and once we moved and I found the book again. I decided I'd give it another try, I did, and had the same problem, so hard to get into! I will get through it eventually, but just couldn't get through it, I don't know what it was. Just finding the beginning of the book long and drawn out. It might just be me, but I was a little disappointed.

Simply Grilling

This a fantastic book of recipes! I am new at bbqing and excited to use the recipes in this book. One of the things I found so great was that it is not just meat recipes but recipes for salads, desserts etc. This will be put to great use for those new recipes I want to try when company comes. I was happy to see that the ingredients for the recipes are not some ingredient you need from a faraway place that is going to cost way more than the average meat/veggie etc. It is stuff you can find in a regular grocery store. Looking through the book and at the recipes and great pictures made me get very hungry, I am excited to try a recipe out tonight!
I am so excited to try all of the recipes in this cookbook, it a great resource and one that would be useful for new and experienced cooks.

Stand By Me ~ Neta Jackson

This book is part of a series or can be a stand alone series. It is the 3rd portion of the Yada Yada Prayer Group Series, and the House of Hope series, this is the first one of the next series but they all tie together.

It is phenomenal. I have a passion for young people and when reading this I loved the ministry that Manna House was providing and then how young people were getting involved in Souled Out church.

I hope to eventually get the whole series. It is such a great book and a series I will go back to again and again. It is awesome to have the study questions in the back of the book to have your own book study or small group.

Daily Gifts of Grace Devotional

This devotional is by far one of the best. I have been using it daily since the beginning of the year and it feels like each devotional is written just for me, just for that specific day. The author's of the devotionals make you laugh and cry and most importantly turn to the foot of the cross on a daily basis.

This is a devotional that would be great for young adults right through to older women. I highly recommend it!

Love Lifted Me

This is a great story of real life situations and how to overcome them. Evans does a great job with her writing and providing a visual picture for the reader as well as bringing the story close to home.

This book is awesome and I would definitely recommend it to many people and a great book to add to a church library collection. I really look forward to reading her other books that are part of this series.

Heaven is for Real DVD Study

I was so excited to receive the DVD study on the book Heaven is for Real. It brought the book to life even more so, the book is amazing and I am looking forward to doing the study with my church or small group in the near future.

Colton, Todd and Sonya give as much detail as they can through this study and share how the book and experience has changed their lives and their personal life with the Lord. It at times is an intimate conversation but other times you find yourself laughing.

This is such an awesome resource that every church or small group should invest in.

An Amish Wedding

I am a big fan of the Amish books. After visiting the Amish settlement in Berlin, Ohio it has made the books so much more real. It is so interesting to read about the rituals and their way of living.
This is another great Amish book and I love that there are three stories in one. It is great to hear about their wedding routines and rituals that they have to follow living in an Amish settlement. It is not something I could do but definitely admire those that do.
This is a great book that I would suggest to anyone that likes reading romance novels and Amish stories.

Heaven is for Real Deluxe Edition

I have to admit, I was a little skeptical getting this book. I had heard a lot of comments on it and was looking forward to reading it to see what everyone was talking about. I have read other books similar to this and I have found that the biblical basis behind what the book was saying was a bit dramatized and not a positive book in general.

I was blown away when I read Heaven is for Real. I found out after a few texts that my friend is the youth pastor at the Burpo's church. I read this book and it gave me a whole new outlook on life and heaven. I have never really heard sermons on heaven because some people don't like to hear about it in churches today. This book is phenomenal and one I would suggest everyone read.

If a 4 year old isn't afraid of death, why should adults be?

Not sure what to say. It is an amazing book for toddlers about God's love. It is a board book and so great to see Christian morals being taught at such a young age. Lucado is reaching every age range and he does an amazing job at it!

This will be a great book to take when I teach pre-school or toddlers at church in our nursery program.

Max Lucado has done it again! This time he is reaching a younger age group with the stories about Hermie. But, he is also able to bring scripture and inspiration to the little toddler age children. This is an awesome book for churches, parents of young kids, pre-school teachers etc.
It is great to be able to teach children how they are blessed. So excited with how Max Lucado is bringing the word to all ages and able to reach them all through Hermie and other various topics. He is reaching the youngest of kids to the oldest of adults with his books. Keep up the great work!

Hermie, a common caterpillar

I was excited to get this book! I was even more excited to find out it was a level 2 reader! I supply teach and I am always looking for something different that I can take into the Christian schools where I teach and read or show the children.
Lucado has done it again! Hermie is a great story about a caterpillar that feels common and doesn’t realize God has big plans for him but only in God’s timing does He reveal those plans! Great story for children and adults to relate to.

Close Enough to Hear God Breathe

I was a little hesitant in getting this book, not totally sure on what it would be about. I got this book in the mail and have not been able to put it down! I would force myself to read once chapter a night so I could have something to look forward to the next night.
Greg is so real in this book and brings practicality to it all. It has made me laugh, and cry. It is probably one of the best books I have read! Amazing! It even has study questions so you could do a book group or small group with it. Really great book!

The Grace of God ~ Andy Stanley

This was my first book by Andy Stanley (son of Charles Stanley), and I was really impressed. It was easy to read, very conversational, and full of fresh insights. The book walks through the Bible, viewing key passages in terms of how they demonstrate the grace of God. Since I just finished a study at our church on "Jesus in Genesis," his chapters on the Old Testament were especially timely - though I also enjoyed the NT chapters. I would recommend this book for any small group or individual study.

He has done it once again! Lucado has brought realization to the reader’s mind about how this world isn’t about us, it never was and never will be. God has put us here for a reason and that is to glorify Him and spread the news about Him.

Lucado has to be one of my favourite author’s. He says it like it is and gets right down to the root. Definitely a book I would suggest for anyone to read!

The Waiting Place

I have to admit, I was a little disappointed when I started reading this book. I guess I was expecting it to be more practical on waiting and that type of thing. It is more compiled of short stories of different times the author had to wait and there are some practical truths pulled out of those stories.

It is a good book to read before bed. Not sure it would be a book I’d suggest for people to read unless they wanted something to read before bed.

Hermie & Friends: A Bug Collection Volume 3 ~ Max Lucado

I requested this dvd set because I am involved in Children’s ministry at my church and felt this would be so beneficial for kids of any age. I am a big fan of Max Lucado’s work and have heard many good things about “Hermie & Friends” but never seen any. Thanks to booksneeze for sending this to me to review! There is humor in this that adults will enjoy! Great family entertainment as well as impacting Christian lessons!

Milo the Mantis Who Wouldn’t Pray:
Milo learns that when you pray you don’t have to do anything special, use any fancy words to get God’s attention but that He is always listening and is with us all the time.

Buzby & The Grumble Bees:
Buzby’s neice and nephew come overnight and don’t have any manners at all but with the help of Buzyb’s friends they teach them how to behave the way God wants us to behave. Great lessons!

Hailey & Bailey’s Silly Fight:
Hailey and Bailey fight along with a few others in the garden but after they pray, God shows them that they are arguing over something silly and their initial plan was to help others but they got sidetracked. They learned that fighting can be silly, and that we need to love each other.

This is an incredible DVD set for ministry, and families. Great practical lessons for everyone to learn in a fun way. Each DVD has a sing a long song, colouring sheets, a story book and other features! A great tool for anyone that is around children!

The Truth about Dating, Love, and Just Being Friends ~ Chad Eastham

When first ordering this book from booksneeze I wasn’t too sure what it would be like. As someone who works with youth I was interested.

As I opened this book I was surprised. Eastham is very straightforward and honest about dating and relationships. He brings a humorous spin to the book and covers a lot.

This is definitely a book that would be great for teenagers, guys and girls!

Nelson's Biblical Cyclopedic Index

This index is a very intensive and great resource to have as a student, ministry leader, pastor, Bible scholar or Christian! It covers everything in the Bible. It is like taking the back of your Bible index and expanding it in a huge way. It references everything and everyone in the Bible! There are over 8000 listings in alphabetical order with scripture references included. These listings are also broken down into sub-headings making it even more user friendly. Most of them include a brief definition, or if you are looking up a name, you will find the meaning of the name.

It isn’t a heavy book so it’s easy to carry with you. It would be a great resource to use as a teacher or Bible Study leader but also great for personal use. It is easy to use and understand. It is definitely a great resource and one that you should have.

Start! The Bible for New Believers

This Bible is the NKJV which I’m not a huge fan of because it’s not in the easiest language for non-believers to understand. It did have great highlights throughout explaining things in simpler terms for a believer at any stage in their walk with the Lord.
I don’t believe for me it was too helpful but I am passing it on to a baby Christian and hope that she will get great use out of it.

A Leader's Heart ~ John Maxwell

As someone moving towards leadership I found this devotional inspiring. Each day is a section from one of John Maxwell’s books on Leadership. Maxwell relates to leaders, struggles, joys, frustrations, etc in this book. It is great that each day is to the point and applies principles from his other books and would be a great reference book.

It is a great book for a Pastor in your life or anyone in leadership. I would recommend reading this and using it as a tool to aid your devotional time.

You Were Made to Make a Difference

This book is a great one for teens to help motivate them to realize that they can make a difference, no matter what their age. We are brought back to the book of Acts and look at the first church, what they did and relate it to now, it is no different. We just have to be willing. This is an awesome book for teens to read. I encourage you to pick one up for your teen. Encourage them that they can make a difference; they are not “too young”. There are many people in the Bible that were “young”, for example, David. The Butterfly Effect ~ Andy Andrews

This book I had to read online through booksneeze because they for some reason would not send a hard copy. I found, this book was a good motivator to take time to consider actions before making them. To pray and take them to God before acting on them and to realize the impact they would have on others around me.
This was an easy read due to its short chapters and small size. I would recommend this to anyone, believer or not. It was uplifting and encouraging! As well as challenging.

The Boy Who Changed the World ~ Andy Andrews

I was pretty excited to get this book from booksneeze after reading the description and hearing reviews of other Andrews’ books. As a children’s ministry worker I found it good but a little confusing at times. It basically told three stories in one to come to the main conclusion.
Don’t get me wrong, it is a good resource but not meant for younger kids who may not be able to follow or understand the story. I give it a 3.5 out of 5.

Killing Time Before Church

As I sit here and slowly get ready for church I am so thankful for what God has been doing in my life. It is a bumpy ride as I put my trust in Him and know that what He is doing is right and the best way. I try not to worry about what might happen but trust that as I am trusting the One who created everything that the things I worry about, He has already worked out the details and He will come out glorified in it all.

I love my church...we are family that is open and honest with each other. We meet weekly to pray and for service but I miss them and although I know we all have our own lives, wish I could see them more. God is doing amazing things in my church and I'm so honoured to be part of it. As we take steps out into the community I know that God is going to keep us safe and that we have His hedge of protection around us. I pray that as we move out into our community that people wouldn't see a bunch of "Christians" or "religious people" but that the only one they would see is Jesus.

Well, I better sign off for now as I need to finish getting ready.

Wide awake at 3am!

Not sure why, but I am wide awake and it is 3am! I have to get up in 5 hours, and should be sleeping.

I figured...hey what a better time to write a blog than at 3am in the morning!

God has been working in so many areas in my life lately!It's been a crazy ride, fun, scary, exciting, stretching but most of all rewarding to see where God is taking me and realizing that He really is in control and nothing I do can change that, well wait, I can change that by going and doing my own thing but why...when someone else is in control and has the wheel and most of all, knows exactly what He's doing. Why would I want anything different?

I'm glad I'm not in control because I've been there and done that and messed it up!

I'm so thankful for amazing people God has put into my life, for a mom who supports me and provides for me when I'm needing help in certain areas, for friends that allow me to vent without coming back at me with advice about what I need and don't need to do in certain situations, a church that supports me 100% and speaks truth into my life. But most of all I'm thankful for a God who loves me and is there for me every minute of everyday, holding my hand and leading me through all things.

That's my rant for this early morning post. Hope all is well in the land of the internet!

100 Prayers God Loves to Hear, 100 Praise Songs ~ By Stephen Elkins

This is a great book for kids, of your own or if you are in children’s ministry. The prayers are easy for children to understand as well as the songs are upbeat and easy to learn.
As a children’s ministry worker this will be a great book to help kids learn how to pray and learn songs that relate to the prayers. It is a book I would highly recommend. Book review for booksneeze.com

Fearless by Max Lucado

Have no fear! It’s easy to say but a lot harder to do. I’ve heard it said that in the Bible it says some sort of “Do not be afraid” phrase 365 times, one for each day of the year. This book couldn’t have come at a better time. As I start a new job and a new chapter in my life from just finishing school there is a lot of fear that I am facing. Lucado does such a great job bringing in scripture and practical illustrations that convey the message he is trying to get across.
This book is great for anyone to read. It is one that you want to take your time to go through and let each chapter sink in. It has taken me a couple of weeks to read through it but it has been so worth it. Definitely get out and get this book, even if you are not a Max Lucado fan you will get something out of this. 66 Love Letters ~ Dr. Larry Crabb

I have to admit, I didn’t read this book to its entirety due to time and the fact that this book is one that you need to read slowly. It is a unique book with the fact that it is like a conversation between Dr. Crabb and God, but you also need to remember that what God is saying is from Dr. Crabb’s point of view. It is a good book to read alongside the Bible in order to get a clear picture of what Dr. Crabb thinks God is saying to us through that specific book in the Bible. A Time to Dance ~ Karen Kingsbury

A story about new life in the Lord and marriage but also real struggles and doubts; Kingsbury captures it all in A Time to Dance. A quote that caught my attention in this book is “The eagle is the only bird that doesn’t run from trouble. Instead it uses the storms of life to take it to a higher place.” A Time to Dance helps us to see that we can’t run but we need to run into the arms of God.

Well, Kingsbury has done it again! She has an amazing way of grabbing the reader’s attention from the beginning and keeping it until the very last page. I received this book at about 1pm and was done twelve hours later (with a few short breaks). Kingsbury has been given an amazing gift to write but she is also sincere in her relationship with the Lord and listens to what the Lord is teaching her and calling her to write about and that comes across in her books. Miller captures God the way the Bible does. There is no sugar coating Christianity. He speaks the truth and not what we want to hear as Christians but what we need to hear. This book may make you uncomfortable at times but it is an example of why we believe what we do and God never called us to be “comfortable Christians”.

Miller says “Being a Christian is more like falling in love than understanding a series of ideas.” This is so true, and what it is all about. We get fed ideas all the time about how a Christian “should” act but Miller is challenging us to get back into the Word and be real with God. This is the first book I have read by Donald Miller and certainly won’t be the last. He has a way of drawing the reader in while speaking honestly. This book was received from booksneeze.com

the end of another chapter

Well, it has finally come to an end. By "it" I mean by Bible College career. I have written every paper, exam, and assignment and reached the end. I am graduating and so excited.

As I look to the future, I have no idea where God is going to take me but I know it will be a ride. I am planning on taking a year off from school and working and then possibly going back to school, but it is all in God's hands.

This is one of those times I wish my dad was here to celebrate with me. I know deep down he is celebrating in Heaven and saying, "yeah! that's my girl!"

I was so excited to receive this book from booksneeze. I opened it up and it was hardcover and a smaller book. It is a great book for graduates! I was impressed by the different topics in the book and how relevant it was to my life as a graduate. Some of the topics Lucaudo are: finding your uniqueness, your work matters, putting a smile on God’s face, Heaven’s custom design, studying your story, being the best you can be, relationships, purpose and taking risks for God.

This is an easy read but feel it is better used more like a devotional book. It is definitely a book you would give someone as a gift. There are some pictures in the book as backgrounds and they enforce the message of that particular chapter or devotion. Like I said, it is a great book for graduates and anyone that like Max Lucado.

How Should a Christian Live?

This is an incredible book for a personal or group setting. The topics covered in this devotional are: abundant life, promise by God, His people, Faith, how God gives, good things, humbleness, God’s truth, trust, goodness, living in His love, and enjoying expectant life. It also has definitions which help to get a better understanding on what is being discussed. The book also consists of a word search or crossword; fill in the blank assignments as well as a few pages at the end of each lesson for journaling.

I would suggest this book to anyone in ministry or looking for a book to help them grow spiritually. With the book comes an mp3 of Bible reading audio which is a great way to hear God’s word. It seems like in our lives there are so many “things” that can get in our way and lead us in a different way than where God calls us and the direction we should be going in as a Christian. Everyone Communicates, Few Connect by John C. Maxwell

Maxwell speaks very clearly on connecting with people and how to engage beyond a simple “hi, how are you?” He breaks the book up into two sections “Connecting Principles” and “Connecting Practices”. In the first section Maxwell shares with the readers how connecting increases our influence in every situation, how it is about others; it goes beyond words, always requires energy and is more a skill than a natural talent. The second section of connecting practices talks about connecting on a common ground, doing the difficult work of keeping it simple, creating an experience everyone enjoys, how connectors inspire people and how we as connectors need to live what we communicate.

This book is a great read for anyone. As someone preparing for ministry it is a good book to understand how to connect with people on a personal level where people feel a connection; whether it be personal, or in a church. Maxwell captures the importance of connecting with people in such a powerful way. I give it five stars and a must read! I was given this book to review from booksneeze.com.

Wow!

It has been so long since I have updated!! It's been a rough year. My dad passed away Dec.26/08 very suddenly. I am in my last semester at Briercrest, actually, last 2 courses. God has been teaching me so much!!

I am going to get back into this blogging thing. I promise....that is, if there are people out there that read it.

I'm bad at this blogging thing...

I have decided I am not so great at this blogging thing. I try to keep up, but life happens and then months have passed.
I'm still working at the girls home and loving it! I've been incredibly busy with school, I am officially a senior and will be done 1 year from now. I am still praying and looking for an internship place and learning patience in the process.
There is a lot going on with church stuff, and just ask that you would be praying for my family and church.
Christmas is approaching quickly and I'm happy to say I'm half done my Christmas shopping! I am excited to have 2 weeks off and spend it with family and friends celebrating the birth of Christ. I will try to do better with the blogging....I'm not even sure I have many readers out there...

Blessed...

So, today has been kind of a frustrating day, so I'm going to share what God has blessed me with, these are just some of the things.

~ Christ who loves me for who I am
~ A family who loves and supports me
~ Awesome nieces and nephew who make me laugh
~ Friends who I miss dearly but I love so much
~ Mentors who give me a big kick in the butt when needed.
~ Co-workers who I am getting to know more and more and so excited about that.
~ A job that is incredible!
~ A roof over my head, food on the table, a bed to sleep in, central air in my house, more "things" than I could ever imagine, the technology to keep in touch with friends and continue school.

God has blessed me but at times I need to think about what He has blessed me with and praise Him for that.
Things are going not too bad, it's been busy lately, trying to finish up coursework and help move family. I am really enjoying my job and the girls I work with. I'm looking to see if God wants me at a new church or right where I'm at and also wanting to get plugged into a young adults small group. I'm waiting on God to reveal where these might be at and when I am supposed to go for it.

Keeping my feet dirty for Jesus!

Not sure if anyone still reads this...

Well a lot has changed since my last post. I am living back at home after being at Bethany for a year and a half (since the last post). I felt a heavy calling from God to move home (I know...crazy! But it was God so I had to listen). I finished my fall semester and packed up leaving my best friends and the worlds best roommate to come home not knowing what God had in store for me. I am currently in school through Briercrest College and Seminary in Caronport SK Distance Ed and loving it but so ready to be finished!
I have an incredible job working at a girls home. www.newlifegirlshome.com The girls are great and I'm looking forward to getting to know them more as I continue my work/ministry there.
I am also looking for a place to do a 4 month internship for school. I would be doing it September 09-December 09 or even Aug-Dec. If you know of anything let me know.
I'm continuing to seek where God is leading me because some days it can seem very cloudy, and it isn't because of all the rain we've been having this summer.

Back @ Bethany

I am back at Bethany and have been here for 3 weeks today! It is good to be back and into the schoolwork...yes I do enjoy doing work. But it really is great to be back and see everyone again, at times it doesn't even feel like I was gone. There are also times when it can become akward because I wasn't here for a certain event or something like that.
I am missing home somewhat. I miss my family and neices and nephew. They are growing up so fast. My 4 year old neice started school this fall and from what I hear loves it!
I do need to get going, as this is just another way to procrastinate!

Job # 3

Hey! Well, this is job number 3 that I'm testing out this semester! I am employed at Sears call center...taking orders. Not a GREAT job, but it's a job, and the latest I'll work after training is 7pm. I do have to miss the evenings during camp at the acres though. But will be back in time for C&C stuff! It should work out well! I still have not heard back from school, it's getting down to what feels like a crunch time, because I will need to apply for government loans if I do get in, and will need to know soon! Long Overdue!

Hey, well this has been an interesting month! I am once again jobless, and continuing to look for employment. May 7th I went to a Paul Baloche/Robin Mark concert, it was incredible! I enjoyed Paul more than Robin though. May 14th my family was over for Mother's Day, May 18th I went to see a friend that I haven't seen in a while, and the best part was she didn't know I was coming! May 21 my neice turned four! She was very excited that it was her birthday and that she was getting presents. May 22 my parents celebrated their 35th wedding anniversary, I made them a scrapbook, I was pretty happy with the way it turned out. This Thursday I'm going to Kingston to a FMC ladies thing, should be good.
We didn't make it out to the acres for the long weekend, it was too cold and rainy! I am waiting to get back a letter from someone who is looking over it, then I will be sending in my stuff to re-apply. I would like to have it all in by Friday. I know this is short, but I thought I better update, and don't have too much time as it's 2am, and I have to be in town job hunting all day tomorrow.

What can I say? I have the best nieces in the world! I'm allowed to brag, I'm an aunt! Emily and Erin just turned 15 yesterday and are great girls! It won't be long before they are off doing what God has called them to do, whatever it may be! I know that they will do great things in their lives!!
And, Jessica, turned 17 today! She is an awesome person and fun to be around! From picking clothes out for other people at Winners, to just chillin and talking seriously she is a great friend!
They are a lot of fun, to hang out with and be around!!

Staying Open to God...

Well, it is almost the end of April, and along comes with the end of April, a few birthdays of neices and sister-in-law! It makes life fun though!!
Things are going pretty well, I'm just staying open to what God has in store for me, and following His leading in my life. I'm waiting to hear back about a Summer Internship at a church near Toronto, so hopefully that will work out, if it's all in God's will of course! That would also give me a head start financially for school! I am starting to think of the letter I have to write and the forms I need to get filled out in order to come back.
I'm praying for the possiblity of going to visit some friends at the end of the month, I am about 1/2 way there financially, just need about $60-70 more, and I'll be good to go! I'm just praying that the money comes in, and if it doesn't, well, I guess I know I'm not supposed to go!

Twenty-Two years and still going!

I am indeed 22 today! We had a family dinner yesterday, I think there were 15 (two extras) of us total here! Well, the next birthday party in our family there will be 15 and no extras! It sounds like the twins will be born April 11th! I will keep you updated.
Things are getting better at work, I am still looking for a job with more hours, it's getting busier now that spring is here! We have five birthdays in our family in April, and it will be two more, and that's just in my family plus I have three of my friend's birthdays in April! It's a crazy month!!
But things are getting better around here, I've got some time off next week, with a church event that my mom is running on Tuesday the 11th, and if the twins are born, and then I'm off Good Friday, Saturday and Sunday, possibly going on a trip then too! I'm not sure, but we'll see, I'm not going to say where...but really hoping I can go!

Keep on, keeping on....

I guess I haven't updated in a while! Like my blog says, I'm taking one day at a time! I have had a rough time with a few people at work just telling me off, and what I'm doing wrong and just yelling at me and blaming things on me, because I am a hostess. Well, I had had enough and I talked to my manager last night and today my shift was a lot better!
I am in the process of looking for another job right now becuase I'm not getting as many hours as I was told I'd get. I've had 63 hours so far since I started (Feb.15), and because I was hired on full-time I should have been getting 40 hours a week! I've lost at least a 100 hours of work because of this. This week, I have 3 shifts, I am very grateful though because they are day shifts, and I have no split shifts which is really nice! But, at that I will only be working about 12 or so hours!
I am waiting for the day when I can apply back to school! I have my application filled out as much as I can up to this point, ready to send in via internet when the day comes!! I will also have to re-apply for OSAP and all that fun stuff!
So life has been nuts! Between, work, church, worship team, youth, college and careers, family and God time (not all in that order) it has been keeping me busy.

Another day goes by, another day closer to going to school...

It has been a rocky road these past few months. I'm finally starting to get into my work, getting to know people, and having fun at it! I am waiting for the day that I can apply back to Bethany, and praying I get in! Also, praying for the finances to come through for me!! That's a huge area where I just need to trust God in! The money I'm making now will not pay off school bills even for a semester!
I found out yesterday that I am going to be an aunt again! My sister is expecting in September!! Yeah, that's right, my sister-in-law is expecting twins in April, and my sister is expecting in September! It will make for one busy big family! I will be an aunt 9 times! (Including my little nephew Riley who passed away in Oct. 2005 only a few hours old). Please be praying for my family as there will be a lot of busyness happening!! Also, it would be nice if my sister went early so that I could see my little neice or nephew before going off to school!!
I better get going, I have to work tomorrow morning!! Night everyone!

Trust, what does it mean anyway?

I looked up the definition for trust and this is what it says, "the trait of trusting; of believing in the honesty and reliability of others ."
I have been working for a week, and am really enjoying it! But, so far I'm not getting full-time hours, which is what I was hired for. I have worked a total of 8 hours up until today. I'm sorry, but only making minimum wage for 8 hours in a week isn't going to pay for school next year. I really don't want to quit, because people keep telling me, wait a bit longer and you will get more hours, and besides I love my job!
So, I try and rely on God to provide. I don't know or understand how He can provide that much money in the little time left, but I know He has done it before and can do it again if I just trust and rely on Him.

I'm did indeed get a job, guess where?! Yep, East Side Marios! Full time hostess! Hired on the spot and start tomorrow!! Crazy eh?
I had an awesome time in Barrie and Collingwood this past weekend! I got to see family that I haven't seen in over a year which is always nice! Our family is so close, even when we haven't seen each other in so long! Thank goodness for msn!! I think all of the grandkids on my mom's side has msn now which is awesome!

I better get going, I have to get up early to find clothes to wear to work tomorrow!

Today's Forcast: High Winds and Blowing Snow!

This describes my life right now, in every way possible. I heard this forcast, and it hit me, high winds are like the relationships with people...they can be very tense at times. Blowing snow, well that is my life right now. It feels like I'm standing in a whirlwhind of blowing snow, everything is going on around me and here I stand, slightly tossed around, but trying to stay on my feet, but the wind keeps pushing me. I try and keep a smile on my face as if everything is fine but I keep getting pushed and shoved by the wind.
This may not make sense, it was just a thought. Life is rough right now, I'm really wishing I could just rent an apartment and move out, but I know that isn't reality right now. Please be praying for me!

I wonder...

I sit here and wonder. Why me? I am so confused about life and where God is taking me. I also wonder if I will make it through another day. I don't get it. I don't understand why parents cannot be supportive, and why when one is doing something totally insane the other one won't step up to the plate and back the child up when he/she knows that what they are doing is wrong. I don't like living at home again, it is hard and I want to move out and be on my own. I wonder, would it be easier to live on my own? Would I get more OSAP for school? Would I get more respect from my parents? Would they finally treat me like an adult?

I got a job!

Hey Everyone, well, my interview thing went well this morning and I have a job. I start training Monday, and work from 7am-2pm Monday - Friday for 2 weeks straight. Then it is training on the phone for two weeks. I think it should be good, it's with Sears, Call Center, it is the Home Central part of it.
I leave tomorrow for NB, and I'm hoping to see most of you, if I don't see you stop by my room in JP on Thursday. I am also hoping to get to a chapel service, but we will see how that works out!
I guess God is in control. I need to keep trusting that, as hard as it can be some days.

Have Patience

This is something I really need to learn! I have a hard time being patient. I just had an argument with my dad, and I hate when they happen. I just wish I could be more patient with both of my parents. It's hard living at home after being on your own for a year and a half, and not having to tell someone where your going and when you'll be back, even though my parents don't mind me going places and don't care when I come home.

Sorry, had to vent. Things other than above are going well. I'm still looking for a job but put my resume in at Job Connect, where they help people find jobs and I have an appointment monday with an emplyoment counselor. Today is my mom's birthday, and worship practice tonight. Tomorrow we will probably celebrate my mom's birthday with my brother and his family and my grandma and maybe even my sister and her fiance.

I love this weather! I was in town all day yesterday, and driving around with the windows down, and then I had to go to the nearest beckers and get eggs, (which is 15 minutes away) and it was like 9:30 at night and I had the windows down! It was GREAT! Today it's snowing, but it isn't too cold I don't think. We will see!

Not sure where I'm going...

I have been trying my best to keep a positive attitude about this whole situation but it is really hard! I have not found a job and just don't understand why this is all happening. I've been continaully having my quiet time and it's been really cool what God is teaching me through that, every night's devotion feels like it has been written just for me for that certain night! I had a difficult day yesterday because everyone was headed back to school, everyone but me that is. I really don't get it...

Wanted - A Job!

Life sure can change within a matter of seconds! I came home last Friday night to receive a letter in the mail, and the results of this letter--I am taking a semester off from Bethany. This may come as a huge surprise to some of you as I love my life at BBC. I am going to work this semester, and apply again in the fall. This semester I plan to do some visiting around the area with some people that used to go to Bethany, I am also singing on the worship team at church and involved in a College and Careers Group. I am excited because I am going to be able to go to my cousin's reception that just got married on December 27. It will be great to have the family together again!! I am looking on the bright side of things and ready to see what God is going to do in my life. Just this week He has already been just helping me to look at the bright side of the situation, and to totally trust in Him.
I am right now in the midst of looking for a job. I will be heading up to Bethany soon to pick up all of my stuff. I'm not sure when it will be, but if you want to get together, or at least meet up so we can say hi, let me know!!

Enjoying the break!

Hey! It has been a great time at home! I had a busy but awesome Christmas; Christmas Eve my family went to church, I went and picked up my neices and we drove into church and then back out to my house to have snacks and family time, which is always a lot of fun! Christmas Day my dad had to wake me up...and my sister and her fiance came and we did stockings and gifts with them, and breakfast. I went and had a nap (something that usually doesn't happen for me on Christmas day)!! We went later on to my brother and sister-in-law's house for gifts with them and Christmas dinner. It was delicious! Boxing Day (for you american readers--the day after Christmas ;) ) My sister-in-law, mom and aunt went for a girls breakfast, and then went shopping! It was a lot of fun!!

24 hours later, and one snowstorm later I made it home! I was one of the lucky ones, having my flight cancelled out of St.John last night! I called a friend and got a ride to my aunt's house, and my ticket got changed to tonight at the same time I was supposed to fly out yesterday! I am home....finally! I am so happy to be here too!
Exams went well, they are over! Praise the Lord! I am home for 3 weeks and don't have to do anything! I am singing tomorrow for the church worship service...which should be fun!

Christmas Banquets!

So, I am wondering why school cannot just finish after classes are done. Why do we need finals? They just stress out the students and profs as well, as they have to put the exam together, and sit there for 2 hours until we finish them. So, my question is what is the point?
Anyway, last night was the Christmas banquet, it was a lot of fun!! I went with a big group of girls, and we had a really great time!
Today was the Awana Christmas banquet, and we had to go set up in the afternoon, then go back down later for the actual banquet. It was good, but could have been better if I was feeling better.I am ready to go home! I leave in 6 sleeps, and I'm flyin! A week from yesterday I will be home! I cannot wait!

The sooner I can go home the better!

Not too much longer now and I can go home. I am ready to get away from Sussex, and get away from everyone and everything for 3 weeks! I am very excited about this as my dad was having health problems again and I just want to go home and give him a big hug! I'm finding that I'm missing my family a lot more this semester, I guess because of everything that has happened. I cannot wait to see my neices and nephew, and siblings and parents! I think this will be a relaxing time at home!! 1 paper, which I want to finish tonight, and 3 finals, which I'm not too worried about and I'm leaving on a jet plane! Ciao

Chapel was incredible on Tuesday! It usually is really good, but Tuesday was different, I was really tired, and did not want to be there, I was there because I had to be. The worship time was upbeat and powerful! As Pastor John got up, I was settling down for a nap...(oops...did I say nap?) anyway, little did I know that I would be awake and alert for the whole service and God really spoke to me. The message was on the different names of God, and it was just so cool to see how many names God has and how powerful and big God is. I really think we take God for granted somtimes.
Then tonight, a friend of mine was leading D-Groups and was totally used by God, just said some things I really needed to hear at this point in the semester and time in my life. Thanks Missy!!
The semester is almost done...Keep your chin up everyone, we are almost at the end!!

Happy American Thanksgiving!

Hey! I know, its been 2 weeks since I've said anything here! Things are going well, tonight a bunch of us had an American Thanksgiving dinner! It was a lot of fun, but, being the only Canadian, I got teased the most. I am really excited about going home in 3 weeks! Yes, only 3 weeks until I get to get out of Sussex, for 3 whole weeks! It is a very exciting time!
I'm getting down to the last couple papers and presentations and then finals. I'm not too worried about any of them.
I also found out I'm moving to another dorm for next semester, which is really exciting! I get to move in with my friends and into my old apartment!
God is still working in me, and I'm still not sure how or what He's doin'. I'm just taking life a day at a time, and trusting in Him.

Procrastination...

Well, a few things have happened since I last posted. Booster was last weekend, and it was great! I didn't go to all of the activities, but went to the services and the worship was awesome! I really felt like the speaker connected well with the teens. Last Sunday night at Encounter Natasha spoke and did an incredible job!! I don't think I've heard someone speak on Song of Songs quite like she did, she has such a passion for the Lord it is so awesome. This weekend was our retreat for class. I felt it went really well, although there was an accident everything went smoothly and honestly, couldn't have gone better. Everyone who attended as "campers" seemed to have a good time! We actually did get to relax, and I felt like no one was stressed about work or anything, it was a great time to hang out and get to know people, but also meet with God in solitude! Lynn and Natasha spoke and did a great job, God really put them in our path for a reason!
Five weeks from right now, I will either be home, or on my way home for 3 weeks...Christmas break. I can't believe how fast this semester has gone. I feel like the semesters fly by here at Bethany because there is so much going on, and so much to do!
God is working a lot in my life! My brother and sister-in-law are expecting another baby...which is so exciting in my opinion! I honestly, don't know how to describe what God is doing in my life, because I don't exactly know...I do know that Him and I are working on things...and it will take time. We live in such a world that is, "everything happens right now" that it is hard to be patient and just wait. I know that I need to and that everything will work out in God's timing but only in His timing. I'm really struggling with this as well though, a lot of confusion, which satan is taking advantage of. People say, "Just trust in God" and I know we all need to do that, but it can be so hard! It's like giving your best friend, (who you've never seen) your entire life and let them tell you where you are going and giving them control of your life.

A very much needed break...why did it have to end?

This week has been so crazy! It was mid-term week, and it seemed like everyone was really stressed! I hardly got any sleep during the week, and finally got a break! I went to my aunt and uncle's house last night, and we took my grandma to Moncton to fly back home today. It was great to spend time away from school, even if it was just for a night. My aunt and I are close in our relationship, we were talking about losing my nephew, and my sister and that whole situation. She pointed out a song to me by Casting Crowns, called, "Love Them Like Jesus" and the second verse says this:

Things are going pretty well! I haven't updated in a while, it's really busy here at school though! Tomorrow is Parent/Grandparent day, my grandma is in NB visiting family, so she is coming to spend the day with me! I can't wait to see her, I haven't seen her since August, I did see her for about 1/2 hour when I came home for Thanksgiving. Midterms are next week, I have one Monday, and one Tuesday, then on the weekend I'm headed for a night at my Aunt and Uncles! It will be great to have a break and hang out with family.

Why?

I don't understand it. My little nephew didn't make it, a few heartbeats old and he was just too small. He was so perfect and so tiny. It is amazing how much love can be poured into such a small little boy weighing only 1 1/2 lbs. How come other people get to keep their babies and my sister didn't. People want to give up babies, yet my sister's son didn't live. I just don't understand it. Why?

Why do people act like highschool students in college?

The last few days have been non-stop, people are acting like high school students in their relationships and I for one do not like it at all! I mean, your adults now and in college, act like it would ya!
I am really excited to go home on Wednesday even though I have to leave at an insanly crazy hour of the morning! I'm home for a week and cannot wait! I do indeed have to get through today and tomorrow though!

Keeping my feet wet

Well, God has been doing great things in my life since being back at school. It's been a rough ride though, I must admit. I almost went home, but realized it was Satan attacking me from every direction! I did stay at school, and things are going great, I'm counting down the days until I fly home for Thanksgiving! I'm home for 7 days...how sweet is that?! I am so excited! I have lots of work, but so far I'm staying on top of it, and will really reap from this break!

I'm finally in the land of relaxing...

Hey! How is everyone doing...it's been a while since I have written. I'm finished work, ended pretty well, and now I'm in NB, staying at my aunt and uncle's house about 45 minutes from school. I didn't end up getting any OSAP, and so now applying for a bank loan. I am moving into school on Monday Sept.5. I cannot wait to see everyone again!!!!!!!!!!!!

Stop Playing Church People!

This came out of some stuff this week, but why is it that people play church. I for one am extremly sick of it! Should I not be attending a church where I can be serving but also where I am getting something out of the service, and where I feel God calling me to be. Summer is coming to an end

Yes, indeed, it is true. Summer is coming to an end. I'm excited and sad all at the same time. I don't want to be finished work, but I do want to see everyone from school. I finish work on the 26th of August, one week!! I leave then on the 29th to go to school. I am going back with my aunt and uncle and staying with them for a week. I'm really excited because I know at least two people going in as freshman this fall. I'm really excited, because one of them and I became good friends and then lost touch. It will be cool to rekindle that friendship!!
This Sunday is my last Sunday here at church, I'm singing, and sharing about my summer, so please keep me in prayer as I can get really nervous.

No time for this

Ok, this is going to hopefully be a fast blog entry. It has been a while since I've been able to write. Last weekend we had our youth camping trip and had a blast, after we broke into the wrong cottage! We finally got into the right cottage then Saturday afternoon while out in the water/boat etc we had a thunder and lightening storm!! That was interesting!! Right now I'm out at the acres for the week. I just finished filling in for the secretary for 2 weeks, boy that was interesting! I better get going, I need to get back to the camp. Oh ya, I went to POC last night...my first time driving Toronto area. I loved it! I came back this morning. I got to see lots of old friends and campers!!

Hey! Well, my week was great! I got to visit a friend last Wednesday out of town and had an awesome time with her, then went on to go shopping for my nephew's 2nd birthday. I took my mom to an Avalon concert last night. It was incredible...those guys do a great job! I heard them in Ottawa with my brother a few years ago...and they were amazing then as well! I am heading to my trailer either today or tomorrow for probably most of the summer! Saturday is the start of Family Camp 1. I can't wait to get out there!! Summer can finally begin, because for me it doesn't really begin until I get out there. Work is going well, we had our last Sunday night youth group this past Sunday, we went to one of the teen's homes and had a pool/movie party, it was a lot of fun! We watched Ladder 49! Great Movie!! The guys didn't want to watch it so the girls did and we were all crying by the end of it! We are planning a camping trip in july and a beach day in August, then I have to lead a morning service Aug. 21. Things are going well! God is still working on me in ways I didn't know possible. It's exciting though, to see where God is taking me in life and what He has in store for me!

I'm being stretched

Hey! Things are slowing down a bit for me! At least, I thought they were, until I attended a meeting at work, and realized that it is going to get busier. God is really stretching me...I guess it's a good thing, but it is very difficult for me! He is taking me way out of my comfort zone. I almost feel like I'm getting all the jobs other people don't want to do. I mean, I love my job! But, like I said I feel like I'm getting dumped on. I am afraid that as good things are happening over the summer, that when fall comes and I leave that they won't have anyone to continue on with the things I've started.
I guess things are confusing and I just need to leave it in God's hands. I still have not heard anything about finances for next year so if you could be praying for that it would be great!

It's In Your Hands God

It has been an interesting few weeks! I organized and led a youth service that we invited the whole church to, about 45 people came! I thought it went really well. It was very evident that God was there and it was totally for Him!
I have been worrying a lot more lately about school and how I'm going to pay for it. I need to give it completly 100% over to God though, I try and do that buy have a hard time just leaving it there! It's difficult knowing that when I go back to school, I won't be going back to the apartment I used to live in with the people I used to live with; which is really sad, we were like family!
Please keep me in prayer, and if I can do anything for you let me know!

Confused

I am so confused right now! I love my job and great things are happening in my opnion! I am just confused about school. I know I am supposed to be at Bethany but I'm just having a hard time trusting God for the finances. There are a few people who want me to stick around here instead of going back to school, to continue my job, but I know I wouldn't be getting paid and it's not where I'm supposed to be right now! I'm also not having the best time at home, still having a rough time adjusting to everything...and it's been ever a month! Any tips?
